Christopher’s work and his impacts were more significant than what he saw. Lack of objectivity is a common challenge when a business includes an emotional investment.

In general, Christopher had lost the excitement that for his work. The tools weren’t available to effectively take on new challenges.
Focus Group
Spin Digital Consulting facilitated a focus group that included Christoper’s previous clients, vendors, and piers in starting the branding process. This exercise produced objective information that was invaluable throughout the branding process.
Naming The Business
It was identified through the focus group that moving from a personal brand to a professional brand would help the business grow.
Visual Brand Identity
A visual brand identity would support the new business.
Basic Marketing Materials
For the launch of the new business, basic marketing materials were developed.

Name
The name “Derive Design” was selected out of a final list of eight options. Domain names (.com) were not available for any of the domain name options. To work around the .com domain name limitation, a top-level .design domain name was acquired.
Logo
The logo design incorporated elements of Derive Design’s process and personality. A custom typewriter font was designed for the logo.
Initial Marketing Materials
Spin Digital Consulting designed business cards, a printed flyer for an event sponsorship, and a portfolio website (since replaced) for the brand launch.

As of 2020, Derive Design has multiple interior designers. Two large areas of growth include hospitality and commercial design.
